Playback Magazine (Verne as Joey)
1995, New York, New York

Joey Skaggs had a contract with the Voyager Company to create a CD ROM with producer Ron Mann, a Canadian filmmaker. When Playback Magazine, Canada's broadcast and film production trade magazine, contacted Skaggs to do an article about it, Skaggs sent them some previous clippings of his work with no photos; a photograph of Verne Williams, his star Bad Guy; and a Stan Mack "Real Life Funnies" cartoon from the Village Voice about Skaggs' SEXONIX hoax. Skaggs had whited out his own character in the cartoon, and drawn in one to resemble Verne. (Check out the original cartoon on the SEXONIX page).

This was not particularly significant, but it was a fun joke to keep 'em on their toes. It also helped Skaggs by giving him ready made published documentation of Verne impersonating him. Now it will be easy to submit Verne as Skaggs to another publication or television show, just as he has done in the past with other collaborators.

Unfortunately, Voyager discontinued production of innovative CD ROM's before the project was completed.
